Additional flights added to Cardiff-Dublin route due to demand. Airline carried over 60,000 passengers on route in 2012

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Aer Arann, today launched its 2013 summer schedule which will see its Cardiff - Dublin services increase in frequency from 1 July.

The Aer Lingus Regional Cardiff - Dublin service will increase from 14 to 17 services per week with the addition of extra flights on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays offering greater choice and flexibility for both business and leisure passengers.

Additional flights have been added due to increased demand on this key route – Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Aer Arann, carried over 60,000 passenger on this route in 2012.

Flight timings on the popular Cardiff - Dublin Aer Lingus Regional route, which was launched in May 2006, will also be altered to suit the demands of our customers. Flights services on this route will now depart Dublin at the earlier time of 6.50am from 1 July, to further facilitate business travel to Cardiff.

The flight schedule will also accommodate Cardiff passengers flying to the US. Connecting through Dublin allows passengers to benefit from the new US Customs and Immigrations clearance facilities. Ireland is the only country in Europe to offer pre-clearance to US destinations, allowing passengers to arrive in the US as domestic passengers.

Cardiff currently has no direct services to the United States and the Aer Lingus Regional flights will offer customers the convenience of flying from their home airport with, through check-in, connections to New York, Boston, Chicago and Orlando.

Commenting on the 2013 summer schedule, Simon Fagan, Chief Commercial Officer, Aer Arann said:

“We are delighted to increase the frequency of our popular Cardiff - Dublin service offering our customers even better regional and transatlantic connectivity and greater value this summer.”

“Aer Lingus Regional is committed to regional connectivity and to promoting tourism by providing the most direct and easy links between the regions of the UK and Ireland.”

Spencer Birns, Head of Air Service Development and Commercial Operations at Cardiff Airport said:

“It’s great to see Aer Lingus Regional recognising the demand for an increased service on such an important route which is vital for both business and tourism connectivity between Ireland and Wales.

“The US link is a great benefit to Welsh travellers who will find the service to be a much more convenient, hassle-free and a more cost effective way of travelling.”

Flights from Cardiff - Dublin start from £39.99 one way including taxes and are available for booking on www.aerlingus.com.
